That is why I am honoured to introduce myself—Jacki O’Donnell, founder of Celebrant‑ly Yours.
Based in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, my journey to becoming a celebrant has been guided by more than three decades of experience in weddings, events, bridal fairs, and business ownership. These years have given me strong organisational skills and an instinctive ability to connect with people. Before building my own businesses, I worked in marketing, events, and promotions for organisations such as the Sydney Swans, the NRL, Fairfax, and Westfield. In those roles, I managed large-scale events including awards nights, sponsor gatherings, promotional showcases, and bridal fairs. Each experience shaped my understanding of what it takes to create memorable, seamless, joy‑filled occasions.
Becoming a celebrant feels like coming full circle. Every skill I have developed—planning, communication, creativity, and calm leadership—now supports the work I love most: guiding couples through one of the most significant moments of their lives. The role of celebrant extends far beyond the 20 or 30 minutes spent delivering a ceremony. It involves getting to know each couple personally, understanding their story, shaping a ceremony that feels authentic to who they are, and ensuring every legal requirement is completed accurately and professionally. It also means setting the tone for the celebration—warm, heartfelt, and uniquely theirs.
For me, being a celebrant is a privilege. I am invited into people’s lives at a time filled with hope, excitement, and deep emotion. I have the honour of helping them express their love in a way that feels meaningful and true. Guiding a couple as they step into married life is something I cherish with every ceremony I create.
Married for 30 years, with 3 grown up kids, I value family and friends above all else.
